tumultuous

my poor little camera couldn't deal with the complex and dramatic lighting situation this view presented...the greyish peak in the [i guess] mid-ground was actually illuminated and shining a bit from the sun's rays, while the foreground peak remained in shadow yet retained contrast.

...the dark part of the clouds were much more ominous and stormy in cast and the water looked, well, watery. still and all i thought this snap captured the atmosphere well enough that you can imagine it. and it's always possible my camera is more accurate than my memory but in this particular shot i really doubt it. you don't forget a sky like that in a place like that.

dinosaur eggs

the photographic year of 2005 started off with a trip to the burke museum of natural hustory and culture, seattle, wa.

here we see a pair of sexy dinosaur legs, paleontologists have been unable to determine from fossil remains whether or not dinosaur legs taste just like chicken...

mushroom colony

found these mushrooms in a park on top of queen anne hill, seattle, washington, 2004. they look like a small crowd of mutants of varying ages...

i think this is the last of the 2004 snapshots, going to now move on to 2005. by the time i get to this year's shots, things will slow up [most likely].

returning to washington - roadshot 2

i have a habit of taking pictures from inside moving vehicles. i do it because i want a snapshot that will remind me of how it feels to be on the road. i know they'll blur in places...

but i also know that blur will create a sensation of movement. i love traveling.

thought i should post another shot of the oregon coast. not many of the photos from this trip turned out that well, but this one, i think, is allright.

oregon coast

i'm pretty sure you're not supposed to have gaping black areas in photos & possibly many people wouldn't advise taking shots from a moving car... still, others may not care about these things.

this was a chance to get a shot of the oregon coast, which is gorgeous. the outcroppings with trees growing out of them are a fairly common sight. i got lucky with the arrangement on this, there's something about it that reminds me of a japanese rock garden.

pink spiky flower

one of the most typical things you can take a picture of and post on the internet [besides porn or your pet cat] is a freaking flower. if you knew me or have seen my artwork this may seem way out of character...

...but flowers are very strange, alien-like creatures that sometimes freak me out, so i take pictures of them.

taken on capitol hill, seattle, 2004.

mt. rainier 3

mt. rainier 2003. the clouds are lenticular clouds [altocumulus standing lenticularis if latin gives you a twitch in the pants] formed by waves of damp air moving off the mountain crest.

they're apparently sometimes taken as ufos...
